Our Mission is to offer an enriched environment of quality caregiving to your loved ones....24 hours a day.

WE OFFER:

Interdisciplinary Family Conferences:

New residents are assessed by an interdisciplinary team of Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Services, Activities, Restorative Services and Dietary departments and a plan of care is developed. This assessment is reviewed every three months and the plan of care is revised as needed. Our resident and his or her family is invited to each of these quarterly conferences. We encourage resident and family involvement in developing and revising the plan of care.

Social Services:

Our Social Services department is available to assist residents and families with admission, advance directives including Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care, end of life decisions, financial information, and other community resources.

Occupational/Physical Therapy:

All residents are encouraged to maintain ambulation and activities of daily living. Upon admission, residents will be evaluated and a plan of care will be developed.

Activities:

The ECU has organized activity programming to provide daily involvement in group and individual activities. Family and friends are encouraged to participate and assist in any activities. Crafts, bingo, handicapped accessible van outings, special needs, and reading groups are examples of some of the activities offered. Resident counsel meetings are held monthly.

For residents who have had special relationships with animals, family and friends are encouraged to bring companion pets for visits as long as their immunizations are up-to-date.

Spiritual Support

Church services, communion, rosary, and Bible studies are provided by local churches. Our Chapel is available for services, private meditation and prayer, and memorial services.

If you wish to visit with clergy, our staff will assist you in obtaining spiritual counseling and support any time.

Volunteers:

Volunteers are a vital part of the health care team at the ECU and make a significant impact on the daily lives of our residents. There are many opportunities that volunteers can perform to enrich the quality of life for our residents such as: bingo, music programs, reading groups, arts and crafts, wheelchair outings, and discussion groups to name a few. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact the Activity Director at the ECU. Many fulfilling and rewarding opportunities await you!

Rooms:

Rooms have either two or three beds. No private rooms are available. Residents admitted to a three bed room will have the option of moving to a two bed room when available. Residents are encouraged to decorate the room with personal items and furniture from home as space permits. All electrical equipment will be checked by the maintenance department for safety. No halogen lamps, please.

Medications:

All medications are supplied by our hospital pharmacy. Please do not bring in over-the-counter medications, ointments or eye drops. Medication ordered by the Family Physician is distributed by licensed nurses. Medication orders are reviewed monthly by a licensed pharmacist, who also performs medication teaching as needed.

Grooming:

Basic grooming items are provided. Residents need to provide their own personal electric razors. Special soaps, lotions, or shampoos are optional and can be provided by family.
