Short-term Disability Employees who are either full-time or part-time (benefit eligible) are eligible for benefits under the facility’s illness and injury plan. The short-term disability is effective the first of the month following the 90-day probationary period for those that qualify, providing the employee is ready for work that day. This benefit is paid by the facility.
Retirement There is a two-part retirement plan available to CMH-ECU employees. Upon hire, an employee may participate in the 403B part of the plan, which allows an employee to put money in a retirement account on a pre-tax basis up to the IRS maximum amount. After the maximum amount is attained, the employee may put additional funds into the 401A plan, which is after-tax.
After one year of service (including at least 1000 hours of service) and 21 years of age, the employee is eligible for the matching part of the retirement plan. The employee is able to have up to 3% of their wages matched by CMH-ECU. CMH-ECU funds go into the 401A part of the plan while the employee’s funds go into the 403B part of the plan. If the employee reaches the IRS max in the 403B, they may contribute more, but the additional funds will go into the 401A on an after-tax basis.
After 15 years of service, employees have the option to raise their matching contribution to 4%.
Information about the plans can be obtained from the Director of Human Resources.
Life Insurance Full-time and Part-time (benefit eligible) employees are eligible to receive coverage for life insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment. This benefit is paid by the facility.
Dependent Life Insurance Employees also have the option of taking dependent life coverage; of which, they are responsible for the whole premium. The coverage is effective on a spouse and dependent children.
Flexible Spending Plan CMH-ECU offers an IRS approved benefit called a Flexible Benefit/Cafeteria Plan. Section 125 of the IRS code allows you to pay certain qualified expenses with pre-tax dollars. This allows you to save Federal, State and FICA taxes.
