Summary
In the last year, Cumberland Healthcare has launched our hospital-based Critical Care Transport Division. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Critical Care Paramedic to join our elite transport team, providing high-acuity interfacility transports and 911 intercepts across northwest Wisconsin. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly approved program that combines hospital resources with the autonomy and advanced skill set of mobile critical care. We have a .3 FTE position available, working a 24-hour shift every other Sunday, 7am Sunday-7am Monday.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver critical care and advanced life support (ALS) during interfacility transports and emergency 911 intercepts
- Collaborate with RNs, Providers, and EMS partners to provide high-level prehospital care
- Administer critical care-level treatments including ventilator management, blood product administration, fibrinolytic therapy, care of patients requiring multiple IV infusions, external pacemaker management, and other advanced interventions as permitted by the State of Wisconsin EMS Scope of Practice
- Utilize advanced medical equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, and IV medication protocols
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient response
- Communicate effectively with sending/receiving facilities and medical control
- Maintain readiness of transport vehicle, equipment, and supplies
- Participate in training, continuing education, and performance improvement initiatives
- Respond rapidly and professionally to changing patient conditions and high-stress environments
Requirements
- Current Wisconsin Paramedic license (Required)
- Critical Care Paramedic endorsement (UMBC, FP-C, CCP-C, or equivalent) or ability to obtain within 6 months
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification (Required)
- Minimum of 3 years Paramedic experience, preferably including critical care or interfacility transport
- Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- PHTLS and/or ITLS
- Experience with ventilator management, advanced pharmacology, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Prior work in a hospital-based or specialty care transport setting
