Community Call to Action: Daycare Task Force
Access to childcare should never be a hardship. Yet in the recent Barron County Critical Health Needs Survey, 60 out of 184 Cumberland residents identified childcare access as a top concern — a priority they believe the county must address in the next five years to strengthen our community.
That’s nearly 1 in 3 families struggling with a basic need.
Why This Matters:
Childcare isn’t just a personal issue — it affects:
- Local workforce participation
- Early childhood development
- The economic and social well-being of our entire community
What the Task Force is Doing:
With the help from 3M, Ardisam, Barron County Economic Development, Cumberland School District, Cumberland Healthcare, the City of Cumberland and DCA Manufacturing, a Daycare Task Force has been formed.
Our goal is to explore solutions to improve access to childcare in Cumberland.
This Day Care Task Force aims to:
- Assess current childcare needs and available resources
- Explore partnerships and funding opportunities
- Recommend steps/strategies to expand daycare access
- Engage community voices of parents, providers, employers, and more
We Need Your Voice.
