CUMBERLAND, WI – At Cumberland Healthcare our staff is constantly working towards increasing their knowledge and skills. Employees do this through training opportunities and classes, while some go the step extra by furthering their education.
On May 14, 2016, Karen Heaney, Physical Therapist at Cumberland Healthcare, received her Transitional Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana. This degree will assist Karen by adding to her baseline knowledge and critical thinking skills.
“I was very excited to have completed this program. It was quite a feat to finish the program, juggling between full-time physical therapy work and responsibilities at home and with my family,” says Heaney.
Additionally, Karen Meade, Occupational Therapist at Cumberland Healthcare, received her Masters of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from Mount Mary University, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on May 14, 2016. This degree provides Karen with more skills when communicating the principals of occupational therapy to her patients. It also assists with providing a highly integrated approach to patient care.
“I have advanced my knowledge with the use of best practices and evidence-based strategies, as well as improved my skills in therapeutic reasoning to have better patient outcomes,” says Meade.
